- Sauna Contents
Your package includes:
- Pre-built, pre-fitted, insulated wall and ceiling panels (including vapor barrier)
- Western Red Cedar interior and exterior (walls & ceiling)
- Polar HMR heater, appropriately-sized with separate mechanical controls
- Full length bronze-tinted glass door, prehung, hinged left or right
- Benches (2), backrests, headrests, heater guard and duck boards (removable wood slat floor)
- The Sauna
With the Outdoor Sauna, building permits are usually unnecessary (you should check your building codes). The free-standing feature of the sauna, with fully insulated panels, means no framing is needed and these extraordinary saunas have the flexibility to be moved and reassembled on any hard surface.
- The Polar HMR Heater
Stainless steel interior and top, baked enamel exterior. One (1) year limited warranty.
- Maintenance Tips
- Clean the sauna often to keep a fresh and well-maintained appearance.
- Use a bucket of warm water with a mild detergent soap and a clean sponge or rag to wipe the bench surfaces and floor.
- Avoid heavy detergents, they could discolor your wood or leave a residue, which could emit irritating or harmful fumes.
- Wet mop the tile or cement floor with the mild soap mixture.
- You may clean the rocks after they have completely cooled. Soak them in a soapy (light detergent) mixture of warm water. Wash them off with a sponge, then rinse in clean water. Allow them to dry then re-apply rocks to the heater trough. Clean the heater of the foreign substances. Gradually build heat in the sauna to totally dry the rocks.
- Never ever turn a hose on the sauna to wash it down.
- Periodically remove all stones from the heater and clean the trough. If a stone breaks do not allow it to remain in the trough. In time, if left unattended, the grit could damage the stainless steel.
- Thompson's WaterSeal may be used on exterior paneling if the sauna is going outdoors.
- How to Take a Sauna
- When taking a sauna, allow time to relax completely.
- Remove clothing and jewelryif required, wear a towel loosely.
- After 10 minutes or when perspiration begins, leave sauna and relax in dressing area. Follow with a cool shower.
- Cooling time should equal time spent in sauna. Enter sauna room again and stay 5 or 10 minutes.
- Repeat the cycle 2 or 3 times; end with a brisk shower. Rinse in cool water.
- Dress when completely dry and perspiration has stopped.
- Some sauna bathers enjoy the soothing effect of steam by splashing water on the heated sauna rocks. Use only one dipper full (approx. ½ cup) at a time and keep clear of the steam as it rises off the rocks.
- Do not smoke, exercise or drink alcoholic beverages in the sauna room.
- Do not pour chlorinated pool or spa water on the heater or corrosion damage may result.

Assembly Instructions - Roof Kit

STEP 1
Locate the two gable ends and also the center truss (supplied only with 5x7 and larger saunas). With the tongue and groove facing outward, place
the 2 gable ends on the existing top of the sauna room. Make sure the tongue and groove on the gable ends lines up perfectly flush with the
tongue and groove on the outside of the sauna room. The center truss will be located directly in between the front and back gable ends.
STEP 2
Run 3" screws through 2x4 frame of the gable ends and into the existing sauna top. Sections of the tongue and groove have been removed
for this purpose (these will be replaced in a later step).
STEP 3
Once the gable ends are fastened, fasten the center truss (if supplied). Position the center truss directly in between the 2 gable ends. Screw
it into place using 3" screws. Make sure to leave at least 3/8" of space from the ends of the truss. Run four screws down through
the truss and into the existing sauna top to fasten it securely.
STEP 4
With help from 2 or more people, you can now place either of the 2 roof panels into position. Each of the 2 roof panels have been marked for
proper orientation.
Refer to steps 5 and 6 before fastening.
STEP 5
Align the roof panel along the peak of the gable ends and center truss (if provided).
Refer to step 6 before fastening.
STEP 6
The front overhang needs to be 16" from the face of the gable end to the inside of the fascia board. If this is done properly, the back
overhang will be approximately 6" to 8". When making these adjustments, be sure the panel remains aligned properly along the peak
as shown in step 5.
STEP 7
Making sure the panel is held into place, you can now fasten it down using 4" screws. Run the screws up through the openings in the
tongue and groove, through the 2x4 framework of the gable ends, and into the underside of the roof panel. If the panel is oriented properly,
your screws will hit the internal framework of the roof panel for strength and stability.
STEP 8
Install the 2nd roof panel in the same manner as the first following steps 4 to 7.
STEP 9
After the roof panels are securely fastened, you can replace the tongue and groove pieces on the gable ends. These have been modified so that
they can easily be replaced simply by sliding the tongue into position first, followed by the modified groove. Fasten with finishing nails
along the top and bottom.
STEP 10
The first step in applying the roof cap is to put down the tar paper which comes with the kit. Center it along the peak of the roof and fasten
it with staples.

STEP 11
The roof cap consists of two 1/2" boards that are longer than your roof to ensure a custom finished look. Cut these boards to the length
of your roof.
- Place the first board flush with the peak and fasten in place with provided finishing nails.
- Place the second board overlapping the first board to create a finished ridge cap.
- Using the provided finishing nails, tack the second board into the first board.
- Securely fasten remainder of board into the roof panel using finishing nails.
- Cut away all the excess tar paper with a sharp utility knife.
STEP 12
After the roof is complete, you can add the trim to provide your sauna with a clean, finished look.
The underside trim in steps 12 and 13 will need to be cut to length.
Fasten the trim with provided finishing nails.
STEP 13
After the trim in step 12 is applied, you can put the underside peak trim on. Cut it to proper length and fasten it with provided
finishing nails.
STEP 14
The last piece of trim will go on both the front and back of the sauna. Fasten it with provided finishing nails.
